Hexagram 28 — 大过 (Dà Guò), Great Excess

Above: ☱ 兑 Lake Below: ☴ 巽 Wind

The Judgment

The beam sags — extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures. Acting decisively now succeeds.

The Image (Daxiang)

The lake drowns the trees — the noble person stands alone without fear, withdrawn without gloom.—— 《周易·大象传》(The Image Commentary)

The Tuan Commentary

The Six Line Texts

In Plain Terms

Overload — take extraordinary measures or release the burden. When you receive this hexagram, hold the judgment beside your question: it describes a posture and a season, not a script.
